Welcome Mallory!

By Jonah Bailey on 05 11 2013

Mallory hails from our very own Grand Rapids, MI. She has been here through the eighties, nineties, and aughts; seeing our community's renaissance from downtrodden office furniture capital of the world to burgeoning midwest tech hub. She has a degree in English literature with a minor in Women's Studies from Aquinas College.

She has also passed the infamous "Schuler Books & Music Test" and began working there following graduation. After four years at Schuler Books as a bookseller and manager, while simultaneously working for D.A. Blodgett's - St. John's Home as a Foster Care Case Aide, she became Assistant to the President at Atomic Object.

The switch away from publishing was a hard one for Mallory. "It was an interesting change to move from an industry I was familiar with, and passionate about, to one that was completely foreign, and which was ostensibly destroying the former", she observed, but the opportunity to work in a dynamic sector with smart people made the transition worthwhile.

Officially, Mallory is our new Office Administrator; but as we got to know her through our interview process, we quickly realized that a title like that would not contain what she was bringing to the team for very long. She has a keen awareness of people's needs and often moves to fulfill them before they are expressed. She knows how to serve customers and take care of people. We are confident that she will raise our client relations across the board as well as improve our marketing strategy and communications.

Mallory is passionate about people and understanding why they do what they do, feel what they feel, and respond to the same stimuli in a myriad of ways. As a result, she loves television, film, and the performing arts as they each provide a unique opportunity to observe human behavior and make deep connections. She stumbled upon Monty Python's "The Holy Grail" at an early age and quickly became obsessed with British television and comedy. Some other favorites are Rosemary & Thyme, Ab Fab, The Mighty Boosh, Nevermind the Buzzcocks, and Are You Being Served? She's a dedicated yogi, lover/hater of running, and a "barely adequate" guitar player.
